Beginning Cake Decorating

New to cake decorating or want to brush up on your basics skills? Join us for this 4 hour class where we will learn the basics in cake decorating. You will learn a variety of techniques with Butter Cream icing and using different consistencies of the icing. Then you will learn about leveling a cake and pick up some tips and tricks on icing your cake crumb free and how to get the icing smooth! We will then take a lunch break (lunch is provided) then on to decorating! We will learn to color icing and some of the basic decorating techniques (Star, Dot, Leaves, Borders, Star Flower, Rosettes, and writing). You will leave class with a fully decorated cake to take home to your family or friends!
- 8” or 9” cake – un-iced
- Box or container to transport cake
- Cake Board or plate for cake
- Metal spatula (to ice cake)
- Apron (optional)
- Paper Towels or wash cloth (optional)
- 4 disposable decorating bags
- 3 couplers
- Tips: 3, 12, 18, 21, 352 (Leaf tip), Large Closed Star Tip (i.e. 6CS Ateco or @D Wilton)
- Cake Leveler (optional)
- Plastic bag to transport dirty utensils
You may register for class by phone (785-228-2253) with a credit card. If you prefer to pay by
cash or cash, you may register in person. Full payment is required to complete registration. Full
refund is given only if you cancel at least five (5) days before the class. After this deadline, no
refunds or credit will be issued. Sweet! Baking & Candy Making reserves the right to cancel a
class due to weather, other emergencies, or insufficient enrollment.
