First let me say that I’m not a baker. I love to cook, but baking always breaks me down. 🙂 That said, I tried your recipe exactly but my dough did not rise either time.

I can’t figure out where I went wrong. I waited until the yeast was foamy, I let the butter mixture cool, I used the food processor method as described, but it just didn’t work. (my yeast wasn’t expired either, I checked.) Help!

I went ahead and finished the recipe b/c I didn’t want to waste the dough. It was tasty, just dense.

Any advice?

Mine was dense also. A reader mentioned adding about 1 cup more liquid and adding the yeast at the end.

In regards to comment 1-my bet would be too much flour and to little liquid. I have success with this recipe instead, http://www.louisianatravel.com/mardi-gras-king-cake-recipe
The cinnamon swirl from Paula Deen’s recipe would be good in this recipe and could be done pretty easily I think.
