Beginning Cake Decorating Class

Two Session Class October 16th 2:00 – 4:00 pm & October 23rd 2:00 – 4:00

Class Fee: $20.00 plus supplies

Learn to create impressive cakes with Jerry Lewman. With over 15 years cake decorating experience he will share his skills and expertise to teach the basics of cake decorating.

In this two session class you will learn to decorate, step by step, so that you experience the joy of creating beautiful cakes.  You’ll understand how to bake a great cake, see how to make and color delicious icing and learn the best way to frost a cake. You will also practice a variety of decorating techniques, enabling you to achieve great results.

Learn the fundamentals:

  • pan prep
  • filling techniques
  • baking temps and times
  • cooling and leveling
  • “crumb-coating”
  • and a smoothing technique that will make your cake decorating a breeze!

We’ll also learn about frosting, decorator bags and decorating tips and you’ll try your hand at these decorating techniques:

  • Printing

  • stars
  • zigzags
  • shells
  • borders
  • ropes
  • leaves
  • roses
  • sweet peas
  • bows
  • star flower
  • swirl flower
  • basket weave

Please bring 1 dozen cupcakes and frosting to second class. Frosting recipe and instructions will be given at the first class.

You may register for class by phone (785-228-2253) with a credit card. If you prefer to pay by cash or cash, you may register in person. Full payment is required to complete registration.  Full refund is given only if you cancel at least  five (5) days before the class. After this deadline, no refunds or credit will be issued.

Sweet! Baking & Candy Making reserves the right to cancel a class due to weather, other emergencies, or insufficient enrollment.
